I am going to relocate the inverter control panel. I want to put it in the bedroom so when we are boondocking I can turn the inverter off from the bed. My question is what type of cable do I need. I know I will not be able to remove the original cat 5 style cable. Is the cable a cat 5 cable or do I need a different cable?

Hi Jim,

I'm not sure just which inverter you have. The 2000W one in my Vectra used a flat, 8-conductor cable like a wide phone cable, with standard RJ-45 connectors (just like Cat5) on the ends. There was about 25ft of extra cable coiled up behind the OnePlace center. If that's what you've got all you need to do is take that extra cable, cut it off and put a new connector on the end. (Most any computer service place ought to be able to put a new connector on the end of the cable for you if you don't have the tools yourself.)

UPDATE, I have completed the project. I forgot that when dimensions sent me a replacement charger/inverter, they also sent me a replacement display controller panel (which I forgot to return, and was charged for). So I built a little box for it and set in on the nite stand. I was able to run the cat 5 cable from the electronics bay to my nite stand very easily. Under the bed I have very easy access to the electronics bay thru the frame rails. The original system is intact and If I want to go back to it, all I have to do is reconnect the cat 5 cable at the inverter/charger.
