Is it possible to drop the microwave/convection oven down past the mirrors on the right side wall without breaking or scratching them? I have a 2004 Meridian 36G with a defective microwave and finally located all the fasteners but it looks like an awfully close fit when it comes down past the mirrors. Would sure hate to break one of them and have to try replacing it.

Any experience out there on this?

Hi Wagonmaster,

Yep, but remove everything under the unit from the counter before you start. I dropped ours to fix a noisy fan issue and bashed my Palm 515. Had to replace it and could only find a Palm Tungsten T3. The Microwave is heavy and it would be wise to have someone with strong arms give you a hand. With ours, it was a little tight but cleared the mirrors no problem. Once the hardware was removed, it came forward then down and the mirrors were not an issue. Yours might be a different Microwave than used in the 04 models but my guess is that you should have no problem with removing it. It’s hard to imagine that the mirrors would have been installed after the Microwave preventing service unless they were removed first.

Thanks, that's reassuring to know that it can be done. Have a great week-end.

Mr Transistor -

Also, did you find an easy way to get that long hold-down bolt in the right-side filter opening when you can't see the threads where it screws into? The left one is completely visible and don't see any problem getting it back in place once the oven it put back up.
I guess I'm the eternal pessimist and just keep trying to foresee as many problems as possible ahead of time.
The oven does still work but shuts off every 59 seconds so it's not completely disabled. If it didn't work at all I'd have to tie into this wholeheartedly but since it is usable I don't want to be left without a microwave during summer camping time.
