I have removed the tile squares from my 2004 Adventurer and the result is a very sticky base. Some of the tiles pulled up small amounts of wood as well. I assume that I will need to remove the stickiness, but does anyone know what the best product would be for that? After I get the goop off, I will need to level the floor in the spots where the tile pulled up the wood. I know how to do that, but the goop is in the way.

Thanks, Joe

We recently removed all the carpeting from our Winnebago Journey. We replaced the carpeting with Allure Tile strips and found it easy to install and it looks great. It was a gluey mess in the cockpit area where the carpet was glued to the steel decking. It was impossible to scrape off. We ended up buying an indoor/outdoor adhesive remover from Home Depot. It worked fairly well, but still was labor intensive, messy and had a srong smell. I wish I could remember the name, but can not.

We poured the remover on the glue, waited a few minutes and then was able to scrap the adhesive off. We used a lot of rags and several pairs of gloves since the adhesive would come off, but also would stick to everything. If the adhesive remover was left on for a long time, I could scrape the adhesive and paint off down to the bare decking.

Home Depot recommended a paint remover to me, so that may have been the same thing. Unfortunately, My flooring is wood base , not metal. I think I am either going to skin it with Luan or use heavy paper.

Are you using the Allure floating strip tiles? It was indoor/outdoor adhesive remover, not paint remover. The outdoor adhesive is heavy duty and the remover is made to take it off of the floor.

The adhesive used to tack down the padding in various places and was, in our case, easy to scrape off.

If you are using the Allure floating tile strips then the you should be able to just install the tiles without doing anything to the wood decking. if you are really concerned about the wood gouges, a little wood putty put down with a putty knife should do the job.

Best wishes,

Wade

5.2mm lauan underlayment is $12 per sheet at HD.
I doubt you'll need more than 5 (maybe 6).

put down some 1/2" insulation while you are at it.

Getting the Luan for $9.65 at HD. The skinning is going pretty well so far. Will have a small gap between Allure and carpet that is being left on the slide. We are thinking of heating and bending the Allure to dive down into the slide gap for a better look. First test seemed OK. Still makes a tight seal and looks better than just stopping short of the carpet. More on that if we go that way.
