Has anyone been sucessful in repairing a crack in a plastic fender? I had a traffic cone thrown in front of me and I hit it cracking the bottom of the fender. The cracks are about 2". If so, what did you use and is there any tricks that you can pass along? Did you reinforce the spot from behind? Thanks in advance.

A call to the factory service dept. should help get an answer. Maybe the fiberglass manufacturer can help also. Good luck on repair, JG

Yes I have. ..repaired similar crack easily.

There are several good epoxy puttys on the market in builder supply or hardware stores. They are easy to use...no messy mixing etc. and strong.

I use Loctite Waterproof Epoxy Putty. Comes in a cylinder tube...about $5/ two ounces. This will be more than enough to repair your crack.

Repair it from inside. Light sand inside crack area surface..clean prepared area with alcohol or Windex. Let dry. Cut off and nead mix the amount of putty needed. I'd plan to cover the crack 1/8 inch deep..1/2 inch crack overlap each edge. If possible...nead a little into the crack from the front and smooth wipe front fill immediately.

Let dry overnight. If desired...light touch up matching paint on front crack fill. Done.

I always carry a cylinder tube of this epoxy putty in the coach tool box. It has many...many fixit uses..

Let us know how the repair went.
