Replaceing water heater element

The electric element is burned out on my 10 gallon Atwood water heater in my 2000 Itasca Suncruiser 35U. Is the best way to just bite the bullet and remove all the screws on the surround on the outside of the water heater and pull it part way out? Or is there another easier way?

Thanks.

I just replaced mine a couple weeks ago and i can access mine from the inside through a cabinet door without removing it but other wise yes just remove all the screws and slide it out i have removed mine a couple times and it is pretty straight forward .

Do yourself a favor and buy a element socket makes things so much easier i got one at Lowe's they are in the water heater dept they are like $7.00

Looks like your floor plan is the same as my 1999 Brave 35C. I could get at mine by pulling the breaker panel out. Wiring was plenty long to pull it out into the hall.

Thanks guys. Mine can only be accessed from the outside or by crawling into a storage compartment. I guess I'm just going to have to remove the 12+ screws on the outside frame and slide it out 6" or so------then I should be able to access the element from the storage compartment.
