Replacement batteries for 2016 Journey

I am needing to replace all 6 batteries on my 2016 Journey. Does anyone have any suggestion where to purchase, (online or local dealer)?

So soon?
I've had the OEM batteries in my '02 Dutch Star last 10 years.
When they needed replacing I stopped by a Sams club on a trip.
Present rig I went to a local CAT dealer and bought 4 new 925 CCA starting batteries and then this year I had all 4 8D house batteries replaced with Lifeline 8D AGM's at an FMCA rally.

Costco usually is best or near best price for both house and chassis. Take pictures before removal.

I would have thought they would have lasted longer but I think they were a victim of the Texas heat this past summer.

Heat accelerates battery aging but it has to be awful hot for a really long time to actually ruin a battery. Something else that happens when a battery warms up is the terminal voltage goes down and if your charger doesn't accommodate for that, you can end up overcharging your batteries which will take them out if done often enough. So the thing to check for is if the charger does temperature compensation and if not, you need to effect that manually either by adjusting finish voltage or limiting the amount of time the charger applies excess voltage.

If you bought it off the lot in 2016, they were probably half shot already. Dealers let the sit dead.

If you let them sit in a discharged state, or run them completely dead, you have shortened their lives.

In any case, take good care of the next set and you should get much longer service.

Twinboat, that probably contributed to the early demise of the batteries since we bought it off a lot where it had probably been setting for some time. Another contributing factor was that we lived in it for a year and during the hot summer here in Texas (many 100 degree days in direct heat with no shade).

I lost the house batterys in my 2015 Suncruiser 37F much too soon.

We were for the most part, parked on external A/C for about 2 years when the batteries stopped holding a charge - of course we find this out trying to boondock.

We never came up with a definitive cause for the premature failure - 12V system was checked and found to be fully functional.

Our theory is that we had AGM-2 batteries but the inverter was set for wet cell and it was set to charge at 100%. The invertor is now set for AGM-2 and charges at 10% when we are parked for anything longer than a few days..

We replaced the batteries with identical batteries we got from the local NAPA store. Damned expensive, but so far so good.

Are you looking for cheep or maybe better with higher capacity? I have done a lot of research on this subject and I have selected www.vmaxtank.com batteries. You can stick to the 100 amp hour Group 31 batteries or increase the capacity to 135 amp hours increasing from 600 to 810 amp hours. I will be replacing mine with the 135 amp hour batteries for a total delivered cost of about $1700. Their 135's are in their XTR line which also has a much higher cycle life.

I don't know about YOUR batteries, because they could be different. But Winnebago "usually" installs NAPA Group 31 9831DT AGMs in their bigger coaches.

If you have these, they are about $280 EACH. They are made by DEKA and are pretty good batteries. At this price you owe it to yourself to have each one checked. It may be only one or two that's got a problem.

AGMs are "maintenance free" in that you don't add water. If your's require water to be added then you don't have AGMs and probably a different battery.

If you do have the 9831DT batteries you're looking at $1,700 to replace them and since they each weigh about 70lbs over 400lbs of batteries. UGH.

Wow, sorry to hear that. The 6 NAPA AGM house batteries in our 2014 (build date 10/2013/purchase 2/2014) Journey still doing fine (from what I can tell) after 3 years fulltiming and now part timing - lot of hot weather too. Coach was/is plugged in when not on the road (no boondocking) so don't know if that makes a difference? What were the indications they were going bad?

At Sams club they have the Duracell AGM 31DTMAGM which are direct replacements for the Napa 9831DT and are also made by DEKA. If you search DEKA cross manual, both the NAPA and the Duracell are the same DEKA Battery. They are currently 154.74 until 12/24/18.

Seem wrong to use starting batteries for the house rather than deep cycle--different types of batteries for different tasks!
