Replacement of DVD Player

Hi,
I know there is allot of information on replacement of TV's , however I am wondering if someone can help me with my DVD player, I replaced my old TV with a new Vizio 32" TV and was going to add a new Blu Ray DVD, but when I looked at the back of the old Player I see 6 yellow and 6 white wires, I would guess it for the speakers, how do I hook these into a new DVD and which type would be the best to buy?
Thank you
Herb

You will have to get something like a Sony Home Theater System with amplifier and surround sound to use the existing speakers. If you want to just use the TV speakers you can just use HDMI or Component cables to hook DVD to TV.

I got a blue ray at best buy with built in amps. Came with speakers but used installed speakers as they sounded better. The player also came with iPod dock for music. I hooked up existing wires to new blueray with no mods. Just mark your wires on old VCR before unhooking.
