Resetting the key pad to factory settings

We purchased out 2008 Vectra, the first of this month. The dealer provided instruction to reset the security code. We can not make it work. Also we had to put a new battery in the fob. Once you turn the ignition switch on how much time do you have to push the yellow but end and the key pad. We maybe having a timing issue.

Here's an earlier thread on reprogramming the remotes that might be useful: How to reprogram my Keyless Entry

I've done it a few times on mine without issue.
