No rock guard on my Adventurer 37F... and zero chips on my toad, as well. The "guard" is the problem not the solution.

I mentioned this once before. Several years back I had a brush style rock guard on our Itasca. It was a fairly expensive one and I thought it was fantastic. I installed it properly with about 3" of clearance from the bottom of the brush to the pavement. One winter, about 5 years after installing the brush guard, we had a huge snowfall and the passenger side half of the brush guard was frozen to the snow/ground. I didn't want to destroy it so I just unbolted that half, left it frozen in the snow and went about our camping trip. We rolled about 100 miles up the highway and camped. When I walked around the coach I immediately noticed that the drivers half of the rear wall was completely covered in snow and road dirt yet the passenger side was almost spotless. As spring approached I noticed on every trip that the drivers rear of the coach would be covered in dirt and filth while the passenger side was always much much cleaner. I figured it must be just the wet roads and once summer came I would notice just the opposite affect when the roads were dry.
About mid summer I had all the proof I needed. Even on completely dry roads the rear of my motorhome that had the brush guard was much dirtier than the side that the brush guard was missing. By the end of June I removed the driver side brush guard and have been much happier ever since.
The brush/rock/mud flaps/guards look cool but they seem to kick up way more debris onto the back of the coach and the vehicle behind you.

We bought our Vectra used and the big guard was laying in a compartment. I have no intention of putting it back after reading nothing but bad things about them and I can see where it dented the exhaust. I do like the look of them but mine will be hanging on the wall of our RV shed.

And, there's quite a few folks, including myself, that are of the opinion that, those all the way across flaps, are a prime reason many of us have multiple chips in the paint/grill/headlights/bumpers etc. on the front of our toads. When I first read of such a claim, I was pretty skeptical.
We towed an '03 Jeep Rubicon at the time we had that large rock guard on. Well, that Jeep received many, many chips. Hmmmmm, time to experiment. We sold that Jeep and purchased a new-to-us 2015 Jeep JKUR and, prepped it for towing. I really, really didn't want any chips in that new Jeeps front end. So, I removed that large rock guard. Guess what, folks that claimed the chips were greatly reduced when that large flap was removed, WERE CORRECT!
We towed that new Jeep for quite a few hundred miles, as in from our home, Lake Havasu City AZ, to Moab UT and back and, had ZERO chips in the paint/grill/headlights etc.
Now, yeah, yeah, you can by bras, chip screens (those things that are horizontal screens that attach to the back of the coach someplace and, the front of your toad) and more. But, I hate adding more crap to the tow hookup area. Just removing that large VERY EXPENSIVE flap, did the trick for us.
So, just something to think about.

Could not have said it better. Mine is in the RV Park in Whitehorse if anyone wishes to stop by and pick it up. Been there for the past 3 years.
