The rock guard on my 36M Journey is now pretty well mangled. It has been pinched between the road surface and the hitch receiver. I talked with Winnebago and they say I am driving it to soon before the air pressure is up.
That is not true I always wait for the pop off before moving the unit (this is not my first air suspension coach that I have owned). Besides when the coach bottoms out is when I have been running such as entering or leaving a service station with a steep entrance/exit, etc.
I looked at a new unsold coach at a dealer and theirs had some dents in the rock guard bracket, just like mine, from bottoming out. The coach came directly from the factory to Arizona. This tells me there is a problem with the ride height on these new maxxum chassis units and the rock guard needs to be relocated.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
The latest is they want me to take it to the dealer so they can perform a bunch of tests such as ride height. Problem is we are living in it. Can not get that done until I get home to Washington state. I will leave the rock guard on even though one side is so bent it rides on the road a bit.

I would take it off, especially if it drags and kicks up rocks on the towed. Why not take it to a Freightliner Oasis Center? Are you in the area of Tolleson, Az?

I have 1800 miles on my 2012 36M I just looked at the rock guard and it does have slight bends on the top near the two attachment points.
Problem I have is that closet door handles keep shearing off. This is know problem to Winnebago and they are working on it. The doors need a different handle or stop installed.

I agree with Jerry. If the rock guard drags on the ground, it will most likely kick up rocks, and if you are towing a car, guess where the rocks will land..
Ride height can be checked at any shop who services diesel units with air bag suspension systems. Freightliner, Kenworth, Navistar, .........

I have an 08 Meridian that has the same problem. It has to do with the mounting points of the flap. When riding over a curb, if the rear dips low enough, the rock guard will drag. The mounting point is perfectly positioned so the angle iron at the top of the guard is directly under the point on the hitch that scrapes on the ground. This bends the angle iron and causes the rock guard to be deformed. I solved the problem by moving the mounting point to another set of holes on the hitch. This served the purpose of raising the guard a little and moving it forward enough to not get pinched between the hitch and the ground. I am guessing you're experiencing the same problem.
Look for another set of holes to mount the rock guard.

I have the same guard that you have and I'm being kind when I say it's junk. All it does is look pretty and cause problems. Mine has bent , broken and been repaired and re mounted and it is still expensive junk.
If you want to keep rocks off your toad, get a Rock Solid for $89 from Camping World and mount it all the way back by the trailer hitch and that will keep stones off your toad. I have 78,000 miles on my Motorhome towing without any damage.
