Now that I have our winter home back, I had somethings that I wanted to do before taking her to storage. It had been 6 months since the roof was washed and waxed. While in Florida I paid a young fella to get up there and do the deed! I decided I could muster up enough courage to make the climb. Talk about getting the old heart pumping!! Well I made it it's nice and clean, it's only the getting ON THE ROOF, AND OFF THE ROOF that gets the old heart pumping!! While up there I noticed that I should be thinking about recaucking. Where the top and the sides join looks like a very neat application. I wonder if I can be as neat, and would like to know what type of caulk I need. It looks like they either used the same color{brown} or maybe a clear caulk. Do I need to by this from a Winne dealer or is it available after market?
After my climbing venture I decided I would get the extension ladder to tackle my next project. Using the swr meter to tweak my CB. I was very supprised when I got zapped when touching the antenna !! Is that normal?? I did not get a good reading on the meter, almost like the meter wasn't working.

stearn, The caulk is a flowing RTV. You can seal antennas, ladders or other objects that are attached to your roof. The RTV flows and puddles and makes a great seal.

Well.. If the transmit button is pressed, there is around 4 watts of RF going to that antenna.. This means you can get quite a few volts at the voltage points.

YES, you can get zapped

DO NOT TOUCH a transmitting antenna.

I had the radio on hooked up to meter, mic was not keyed. Would being hooked up to meter have anything to do with it?
