Roof Coating Question - 2004 Sightseer

We are 5 months out from simi-full time in our 2004 Sightseer. I've put a lot of time, effort, and cash into turning it into a boondocking beast but I saw a video yesterday that made me wonder, is there any reason to use one of those roof coatings on a 2004 Winnebago roof?

Don't get me wrong, we have been through lots of rain and we have no leaks, it's just that this is our first motorhome of any type and I just don't know the answers concerning these roof coatings. Is that something we Winnebago owners need to be concerned about?

Thanks for your thoughts on this.

That is a fiberglass roof. I would never coat it with anything.

I agree I would not coat a fiberglass roof. But I would call Winnebago and talk to them. They have recommendations on how to take care of the roof. Your roof had a ten year warranty on it so it should be good for much longer. But as things age you need to check it often and look for any cracking. Winnebago will tell you what they recommend for the repair. Make sure you have the VIN number when you call.

I'm not sure about the roofs on Winnebagos but the Filon fiberglass roofs used on mid 90's Safaris can develop microscopic defects with age.
Many Safari owners have painted theirs with white elastomeric roof coating.
My coach roof, (which at the time had been exposed to the elements everyday for 16 years), was coated in 2012.
Here's a link to the coating of another '96 Safari roof from 2009:
