Warning: Be sure to use the silicone caulk around the screw holes where the patio and door awning screw into the roof/side of the motorhome. We incurred extensive damage to our ceiling and wall panels because of leakage. We just returned from Winnebago Industries where they tore out the damaged ceiling and wall panels and replaced all. Very labor intensive and therefore very costly.

Our technical service advisor worked with us and also advised us to turn the repair cost over to our insurance policy, which Thank the Good Lord, they are covering, less the deductible.

That's bad!
Who mounted the door/patio awning on the coach? Wasn't it installed by the coach builder? If it was I feel they should repair or replace because of BAD/poor Workmanship..

Ed/Fulltime:

Winnebago claimed that it was a "maintenance" issue and never admitted outloud that it was the screws on the awnings, but after my husband told them that was his theory and that they had better fix the problem and it not leak down the road, the technicians spent another day taking the screws out of the awnings, putting in the silicone caulk then screwing them back in and caulking around them!

Maintenance issue? I looked in all "MY" manuals and saw NOTHING about sealing or re-sealing the screws...Check yours... If it's not there I would push it up the chain. Maybe your insurance company can take the case to them... Why should they pay for something that WIN-A BAGEL should have done when they mounted it on the coach? I looked at where mine is mounted to the sidewall and all the screws and mounting plate has caulking...

If I'm not mistaken the instructions for mounting from A&E calls for silicon in the screw holes and I think they even supply the gasket material for mounting to the wall.
I feel Win-a-bagel screwed up. Maybe the guy who was supposed to do it called in sick that day! Good quality control, NOT..
