The rubber shroud over the engine in my '02 Suncruiser finally came apart. Questions-

1) What does it accomplish?
2) Is it necessary?

Thanks for any comments.

That rubber "shroud" is designed to route air through your radiator and condensor where you need the most engine cooling.

I would replace it immediately.

I can't see how it would route any air in front of it. But the shroud is behind the radiator and has no effect on radiator air at all as far as I can tell.

Besides, my rig has never run even warm on 90+ days in 5000+ feet mountains on a 6% grade.

The shrowd prevents air from going over your radiator and forces it instead to go through the radiator. I would replace it immediately!
