Lightbulb Run Basement Heat and Gas Furnace at same time

OK, I know, sounds really dumb but hey wouldn't it be nice to run both and heat the place up faster then shut one down?

They both run at the same time during a switch over so it is possible.
Is there a way to fool the system and have control so I can start them together?

If you have a true air Tstat both will run if the switch is set to elect heat and the temp is set more than 4 or 5 degees above the room temp.
Both will run till set is reached then the heat pump will try to keep up if it cant the gas will come back on.

Use a single pole double throw switch.

Cut control wire in gas furnace pigtail from tstat.

Wire center of switch to lp furnace.

Wire one pole to tstat lp control wire.

Wire other pole to heat pump control wire (W) from tstat.

With switch in one position, normal operation, in other position lp furnace will run everytime heat pump runs.

At least, this is how I would try it.

My thermostat turns on the heat pump and gas furnace if the temp is well away from setpoint.

Controls for both is on the same t'stat, so I would think thats its ok to run them both.

Here is a service manual for your air conditioner, heat pump that will answer your questions.
