Run Navion Norcold fridge on 12 volt?

I just purchased a new 2016 Itasca Navion and this is the first motorhome I've had with a 3-way refridgerator. I'm wondering if running it on 12 volt while traveling is efficient or is it better to stick with LP operation while traveling? Thanks in advance of any and all advice.

Not your new unit, but I've had several Dometic 3-way fridges in old Volkswagen camper vans. They all ran great on 12V. I only used propane when no electricity was available.

Use 12 volt on the road. 120 when power available and save the propane for the generator
