Try Guajome County Park in Oceanside. We spent several day there and found it quiet and easy to access. Its a county park so it was inexpensive and no frills. We were in site 31 which allowed ample room for our Adventurer (32H) and tow car. Weekends are busy as this is a popular park. Reservations are a must. County of San Diego: Guajome County Park

San Diego RV Resort & RV Park | RV Park Resort in La Mesa, California - San Diego Area

We loved it here ... it has its own rail line station to take you right downtown ... ask for the "new" section.

In 2008, we stayed for a week in Escondido, CA and did the Sand Diego tour. Right off the interstate in Escondido, don't remember the name but remember the fabulous service and professional manner in which the campground was operated. Good Sam site. Hope this helps.

I agree with Coached on the SD RV Resort as it is close to lots of good things. We've also stayed at Campland which is on the northern end of the city near Pacific Beach. That is also a good location. If you want to be further north there is also the Del Mar fairgrounds.

You can check all these suggestions out on:

In years past we have spent a lot of time at the former DeAnza RV Park San Diego RV Parks, RV Parks California, RV Resort in San Diego, Mission Bay RV Resort > Home Mission Bay RV Resort park on Mission Bay. It's a prime location but it's basically a parking lot with hook-ups. Very few amenities. You are right on the edge of Mission Bay park and across the bay from Sea World. There is a nice little golf course within walking distance also. Mission Beach is a short distance away. Swap meets everywhere on weekends.

Right across the river is Campland by the Bay. It caters to families going to Sea World and has lots of amenities.

We loved the location of each of the Mission Bay parks. San Diego is very busy with Indianapolis 500 traffic everywhere so you may want to consider Escondido. There are also several parks in San Yisidro but with the Mexican border just a couple of miles away, the helicopters are very annoying.

hi mikf

we are at san diego rv report right now
(here for the month of Jan)
from the research we did before arriving - and not having been here before - it seemed "the pick of the litter"

since being here, we have checked out other places in the area
well this park, for us*, it has been the best place around

I know Santee gets good reviews, however it wouldn't have worked for us
one place not mentioned already: sweetwater summit campground
it is a regional parks under the auspices of the county of san diego
County of San Diego: Camping Park Information

like i say, having checked out places - san diego is choice #1 for us and sweet water would be #2

regards, pdq
