Satellite Radio Question

I have a 2005 Journey with the Magnadyne 9999 radio and the Kenwood Sirrius satellite tuner mounted on the dash. I can't read the Kenwood display to save my life so.............I thought I would install a new radio that had the satellite tuner built in.

Well I am being told that the old satellite antenna uses two connections and that I will need a splitter to use the existing antenna with the new satellite radio box. They said the splitters are hard to get and that they thought it might take about three weeks but could not guarantee it. Said they come from overseas.

They could install a new antenna but they can't quote me a price because they don't know how long it will take them to install it.

My questions:
Has anyone had a similar issue and how did you resolve it?
Does anyone have other sources for a splitter?
Does anyone know how the original antenna is wired or how to replace it?

Thank you for any ideas or information you might have. I had no idea this project was going to be so complicated.

scottma,
1. Yes I have a 2nd Sirrus radio that mounts on the side glass window via a suction cup mount.
2. I bought a kit directly from Best Buy and it just fits in between the OE radio and the antenna. When I set in a frequency on my Sirrus the dash radio, I match the freq on the dash radio and it's stable and does not drift at all, ever.
3. I ran an automotive sat antenna through the top of the door and secured it to the exterior of the coach and secured it to the roof. The antenna does not work well if at all inside the coach. Keep your original antenna. The automotive antenna comes in a kit with the mount. The antenna looks like a flat disc and it's about as big as a silver dollar. It has a self adhesive backing. I used the smaller plastic wire mold and painted it to match the coach colors. (black) You have to look directly at it to see it.
