Decided to leave NAS Pcola early cuz water supply had possible e-coli. Driving thru downtown Pcola, the steps came out (entry door CLOSED). Heard 3 sharp "whumps" that were only plastic traffic vertical guide posts. Thought I hit some parked cars.......but not. When I pulled over to a parking spot beside the
heavy two lane traffic, the steps contacted the curb, bending beyond repair.
Faulty magnet switch in screen door, per RV Tech.

Called tow truck, mainly to use a long breaker bar to straighten steps and shove them in. Truck was long time coming, so I used jacks to raise right side & removed the step assembly. Use 9/16" socket. Heavy!! (77 lbs). Cancelled tow truck & drove to RV repair shop.

Called Good Sam CSP (500 ded) but they said door sw caused failure & would not reimburse. Called auto ins co (USAA) & they will cover under collision (500 ded). Ordered steps at RV repair shop for $1060 Incl Tx,S&H; about 350 labor (2 guys to install). Found out today I coulda got steps for 799 +S&H.
Oh well, at least I didn't get E-coli......................yet.
