shower ceiling carpet

The poly carpet on the shower ceiling is discolored from condensation and an old skylight leak. I've used all of the suggested cleaners but it just won't come real clean.
Has anyone replaced the ceiling carpet (just in the shower) with a material (I,m thinking of a laminate like on counter tops)? It would look nice and be easy to dry after showering. I could use the removed carpet as a pattern. A flat piece of molding that followed the angle of the shower door would transition it to the ceiling in the hall.
