Shower water going into black water tank

Shower drains or sink drains maybe plumb into black tank by MFG its something they do not always tell you in your tank capacities spec's.

My old Winnebago Chalet had the bathroom vanity and shower plumbed to the balck tank as well. No valve to change over.

It's either more convenient or, since most people don't use enough water in the toilet it's a way of adding more water to the black tank. Our bath sink goes the the black tank.

Well Sir,
Based on your question, I'm assuming you would like to change it so the shower water goes into the gray tank, as it should correct? Well, some manufacturers plumb certain fixtures in certain ways for convenience, i.e. the shower into the black tank because the black tank is closer and the plumbing is easier to route to the black tank than the gray tank.

Our old Class C Ultra was like that. It was a convenience to the builder to plumb it that way. Now, is there a way to change it, that depends. It depends on the plumbing layout. If, you can get to it, and that means all the components for a change, and you can work in what ever tight spaces are provided, then maybe it might be feasible to accomplish. But, most of the time, all the plumbing is sandwiched in between the flooring, fixtures, closets, and holding tanks. You'll have to take a look around, in, under and inside things to see if the change is feasible.

I checked all the plumbing diagrams for the 2007 Tour models and no shower drain goes to the blank tank in any model.

If you have a 36LD, your bath sink goes to the black tank.

The shower drain, being a very low point, would never be plumbed to the black tank in a Winnebago.

Our bathroom sink drains into the black water tank. Two grey tanks, one for the galley/dish washer and the other for the shower/washer -- I believe the additional waste water from the bathroom sink helps with flushing the black tank.

I find it desirable that one of the sinks drain into the black tank, as in our coach I have about 8 gallons more storage in the black tank than the gray. Also, our gray tank fills probably 3X faster than the black tank. We actually dump water from a dish basin into the black tank to help stretch the tanks. It's also good for the black tank to help it evacuate better when being dumped.

why would you want to make a change? you need water in the black tank to prevent solids building up.

I hope that you are not keeping your grey water drain open all the time you are connected to shore. Use the grey water to help clean the hose after dumping the black drain.

Thanks Tom I think you may have answerd my question. The black tank went up one day and then back down the next. Then when I took a long
shower (on purpose) the next day the grey tank went up. So I think I am ok, will monitor more closely in the future! Thanks!
