I am having a problem with my Jake Brake causing a shudder in the drive train while in the LOW Jake brake setting. In the High setting it does not occur.

This is on a 2005 Horizon with a Cummins ISL engine. Freightliner indicates that this may be normal and their fix is to disable the low setting and only allow you to operate with the high setting. I don't find this an acceptable solution

I am curious if any other coaches have this problem?

If not than I definitely have a problem.

Harry - my Jake does the same thing. When we get to a certain speed a shudder happens. We have "tuned it out" and don't even think about it anymore. Sometimes we will turn off the Jake if we are in stop and go traffic. Lots of signs around here (BC) asking/demanding that you not use it in towns anyway.

Ed - we are fortunate enough to have the Jacobs engine compression brake on the ISL engine as Winnie specified the chassis - wow what a brake!

Harry, John, I noticed the same thing on our first drive-off in the Vectra. Talked to the dealer, they said it would have to be attended to by Freightliner. That was 3 months ago, and since I am not anywhere too close to a dealer, I have done what John has, just shut it off when in stop and go traffic. No issue on the high setting, just the low setting between 10 and 15mph.

If someone else has actually taken it in and had it fixed though, would love to know what the issue was.
