Here is a question for all you DYI's. On the drivers side slide of my 02 Adventurer I found the the two bolts that go into the slide bars and hold up the back end of the compartment have rusted and broke loose.

I ordered and have the new bolts. My question is this. Can these be replaced by just pulling out the old ones and dropping the new ones? I tried to get them out, but there is a shock in the middle that blocks me from pulling all the way through.

Any suggestions would be appreciated or is this one for the RV shop?

I had to replace the ones in mine, a couple of years ago.
With the slide all the way out, there is a hole on either side of the slide tube.
The "Shock" you see, is the Ram for the slide cylinder.
I got mine out by tipping them to one side or the other.
I replace them with larger bolts, so I had to file the hole at the bottom, to make it a bit bigger. You might have to file the hole a little to get the bolt out, but it won't hurt anything. You might even spray a little paint on the filed spot to prevent rust.

I replace my bolts on a 2000 model once. I don't remember how I did it, but it wasn't to bad to do. I do remember I used # 5 grade bolts for the replacement. Seems like I looped a piece of wire around the bolt and fished it in then pulled the wire out.

The rear hangar bolt broke on my 2000 37G. Called around for a replacement bolt but in the end this was my fix. I used the same length bolt with a smaller head. Used two washers, one standard and one fender. The reason for the smaller bolt head was for ease of installation passing the ram shaft as mentioned. Used a small jack with blocking to raise the back end and then installed nut and washer.
Keeping a close look-out on the front one.
