Slide Creep

New Wini Vist 27n. The large slideout creeps about 1-1/12" when traveling. I understand they have been putting in a new slide system where the motors do not lock. Any info would be appreciated.

if it is new, take it back to the dealer and use that warranty

Slide Creep

We have had our Vista 27N since November 2014 and really like it. We have had most of the minor problems discussed in this forum, loose water connection, cabinet door that wouldn't stay up, mattress a little too hard for us, nothing major. The handling wasn't bad, but it improved after an alignment (increasing the castor adjustment), and adding a "safe-t-plus" unit.

The major item that we had was the large passenger side wall slide was noisy and would walk out a inch or so when under way. The dealer stated that this was "normal" for these units and the only fix was to use slide locks. Not sure about that answer, I talked to Winnebago directly, and they stated the same thing. The slide locks have solved this problem, and aren't to hard to use, just a little annoying. Winnebago, thru the dealer provided the slide locks at no charge. We have never had an issue with the two smaller slides.

We have over 30K miles on the unit, and all in all the 27N has been a great.

Our 2016 27N has the same problem of slide creep with the large slide. We also were provided the slide locks by Winnebago and they have of course solved the problem. The root cause being the Schwintech slide system being unable to handle the weight of the large slide when traveling. The motor locking system installed in the 27N can just not hold back the weight of the slide. They are upgrading the Schwintech slide system to solve the problem in the future, but the existing problem is being fixed by the slide locks. They work, but are a pain to install in the back, and of course you have to remember to remove and install them each time you tear down and set up.

Slide creep is not a new problem. Our 2001 Adventurer had the HWH system and came with straps to keep the slide in place when under way. Later models with the HWH system came with either locking bars or a solenoid lock that had to be disengaged with a separate switch before the slides would move. Even the last generation Power Gear and HWH systems used slide locks. In this generation they were incorporated into the slide system so when the switch was depressed to extend the slides the locks automatically disengaged. When the slide was retracted the locks were automatically engaged.
