Slide Out Roller Awning

Help Please, Ok so I made a boo boo and my 2008 Adventurer. I broke on arm and bent the other of the slide roller awning/cover. So I removed it and my slide is working fine with one caveat. I am suppose to leave for 3 weeks in Maine and can not get parts in time. Other than sweeping off the top before retracting do those things have any real purpose? It was under quite a bit of roller tension. Should I postpone trip or fix when I get home. Thank you in advance.

There are a lot of rv running around with out slide tops. You will be fine.
A leaf blower with an pvc extension and elbow would allow you to blow off slides while on the ground.

The slide topper awning does help keep rain water from pooling on the flat top of the slide out. Make certain your seals are good and the slide out is fully extended. You should be fine but keep an eye on it in heavy rain.
