I was just writing a to-do list for myself for next weekend's camping trip. No racing, just camping, perfect time to putz. On my list was "slide carpet". I had noticed wrinkles in front of the couch that I had previously blamed on low quality carpet. I put the slide about half way out to try to see what I could see from the outside with regards to the outer edge of the carpet. There's a flap that blocks seeing anything. Went inside and to my horror found the carpet and padding all in a bunch by the couch! Looking a little more it had let go from the outer edge and got pulled inboard as the slide came in. It's a mess and I'm ******.

I think there are two contibuting factors. First is it appears that the outer edge of the carpet is only glued to a 45 degree sloped downward aluminum channel. Not a great fastening method. Second is my slide has been adjusted three times by the dealer to correct a metal to metal contact in an upper corner. They couldn't get it right. I'm guessing there may have been too much downward pressue on the carpet taxing the glued outer edge.

My 12 month warranty is up. I may have to replace the carpet sooner than I wanted. I might be able to improve the fastening method, but the slide adjustment could just cause it to happen again. I'm going to call Winnebago tomorrow. I've got a documented history of slide problems, maybe they'll stand behind it and get it right. Not sure how to really access the outer edge of the carpet either. Might have to get HWH involved to help me there. Winnebago puts the carpet in before the slide, it may not be possible to get better access.

I mention it here for a couple reasons; I feel better venting a bit; if you see wrinkles in yours, take a close look now, I didn't look soon enough; and perhaps someone's got some ideas on getting it fixed. It's a 2004 Adventurer, with a HWH flat floor slideout by the way.

Tim.

Tim, I'd make my first call to WI customer service too; just have some of your records/docs in front of you, so you can prove there was a 'history' of issues. I think they'll help you resolve this thing, probably at your local dealer (hopefully you're OK with them).
Keep us posted on the outcome, OK?

There is a 3 year warranty on the slide mechanism. Maybe the carpet problem will covered by that warranty.
