Sorry to be the one to disappoint you. You will most likely find the slides will "walk" out on the bottom, as ours does, after being driven. Schwintek slides do not have a motor brake to hold them taut as we learned from Winnebagos/ Schwintek slide guru Shawn Clark who looked at ours at GNR 2014.
Holding the switch for 3-5 seconds should always be done as it does sync the forward and aft motors. It will not lock the mechanism. We were informed you need to use manual slide locks to prevent this. Sorry, we didn't buy a modern [2014] motorhome to go back to 1980 technology.
Your picture is EXACTLY what we experience every roadtrip. It "breaks" the weather seal the rubber gasket is supposedly meant to provide as it's initially compressed. It will allow water intrusion driving in the rain.
Gotta love Winnebago, they are so innovative. Oh, they no longer use this bogus slide mechanism. We are on our own. Welcome to the orphans club.
