I have a 02 Journey and I can't get the step well sliding floor cover to come out when we are under way. When we stop I can't get the cover to retract. I use the large switch on the dash just above the steps I can retract it by pushing it in by hand. Has anyone had this problem? If so any suggestions on how to fix or diagnose? Also, there should be some type valve switch but I can't seem to locate it as everything seems to be enclosed.

Our coach is not the same as yours but the step cover control is 12Volt over air. It is located above and to the right of the front mounted generator.....on the "firewall". It is a sloenoid that will hav electric wires to it and also a black plastic samll diameter air line. ON the top of the unit is a knurled knob about 3/4" diameter that easily unscrews. After unscrewing lift out the solenoid and clean it. Reinstall. With air pressure up it should work. If not perhaps the solenoid is defective.

I think the step cover on my '05 Meridian is electrical and opens and closes on a cable mechanism.

I know they showed me on my PDI that when the step cover was place over the steps and you lost power and needed to get out in an emergency you could lift up on the front and pull the step cover platform out of the way.

You might check for a cable off a pulley.

Kix,

Thanks alot for the info. I found the air valve manifold and solenoid as you explained. Your fix suggestion worked great. I'm back in business. I love it when a good plan comes together.
