Solar Panel Question

The tiny solar panel on the roof of my Itasca Ellipse no longer lights the led on the control panel in the RV so I don’t know if the panel is charging or not. I have made a brief search trying to find where the panel output wiring ties into the house batteries or the charger/inverter. Question is where the solar panel output ties in?

It doesn't do enough charging to worry about, but the wiring diagram should indicate where it goes. The LED may have failed.

If I had the diagram I wouldn’t ask. Just looking for a short answer.

That solar charger on my DS connected behind the dashboard. Mine went bad, and I didn't even bother to fix it. It was only 5 watts....useless. I subsequently installed a 100w panel with a controller that can handle much more.

We all have access to the wiring diagrams as Winnebago makes them available to everyone via the Resources page on their web site. If you call their toll free number many times the customer rep working at the factory will email them to you if you're having problems finding the ones specific to your model and year of coach.

Many here would be happy to look them up for you however they would need to know the Year and which Ellipse model to look up.

You would start your search here:

I have a 09 Journey with a similar solar panel. In my coach, in the chassis breaker panel behind the DS rear axle is an 8 amp breaker labelled "Solar". You could check on breaker itself for voltage but be cautious as there is a lot of current flowing thru there and the metal panel is grounded. Dont ask how I know this! Good luck and be more careful than I was!
