Just purchased a 2008 Winnebago Tour 40TD, 30k miles, great floorplan for us. Just looking for anyone owning a Tour on this chassis/engine to see what they have encountered. Forewarned is Forearmed, right?

Thx for any input you may have.

We had an '08 Tour TD until upgrading to a 42QD. The only significant issue was the right front wheel bearing. Nothing happened, but there was an odor and it was replaced under warranty. Other than that, it was a very comfy coach. We spent a lot of time in it and really liked it. The 42QD was just a bit more of everything with a an even better floor plan.

I have the Winnebago version 40td. We had the air conditioner pump lock up. No warning, don't know how you would catch it. Broke the belt, and we had to be towed.

We have an '07 Tour 40 TD. Had a leak in the bedroom slide, but it was fixed under our extended warranty (we bought used). No other major problems. Enjoy!

We have a 2007 Winn Tour 40TD that we bought new but it was a left over from the previous model year (purchased in June 2008).

Love the layout but have had some problems which may be due to the coach sitting for a year:

1. Serpentine belt broke after 1 year
2. Exhaust clamp rusted through (I replaced)
3. Exhaust manifold leaked (fixed under warranty)
4. Alternator seized and broke serpentine belt (FCCC paid for the new alternator and I did the labor)
5. Engine AC unit seized and broke serpentine belt (extended warranty paid most of it). Message is to carry an extra belt.

Only minor problems with the coach itself.

The overlapping slides make the center of the coach very roomy and the removeable table gives you a ton of space options. We remove the Euro chair and can fit an air bed in there perfectly for the boys.

I added motion control units to help with the sway coming out of parking lots. Also added a TruCenter but that is a story in itself (look up my posts on that). Replaced the coach batteries with 4 6-volt AGM's. Added shut off switches for the basement and bedroom radios to reduce the battery drain.

Good luck!

We have an '09 40TD and love the floor plan. It lives great for us!

We're impressed with the ride and handling, as well.

And, yes, we've had (more than) a few problems. If we dwell on those, it makes us grumpy. We're convinced that, from a quality control standpoint, 2008 and 2009 weren't the best years at Winnebago. But, that's just us.

Suffice it to say, we've never been towed. (Yeah!) And, we've spent more time that we'd like in Forest City, Iowa.

We're not sure we'd buy another Winnie. But, for now, we like the one we have.

If you want more info, please feel free to send a message.

Best wishes for many safe, happy and trouble free miles in your 40TD!

We have a 08 Vectra 40TD and are afraid to tell you how many problems we have had so just enjoy that new motorhome. It is a good floor plan and has a lot of good features.
Right now the Splendide is laying on the floor in the living room. On the way to the GNR we were delayed for 5 1/2 weeks waiting for a new engine block that wasn't porous. Towed? Oh, yeah! We arrived a little late but there was plenty of room at the Rally grounds.
Don't ask about the GE Advantium. Winnebago Service wanted $1740 to replace it but we took it home and had it fixed for $272.
There's a few other things but I'm getting a headache.

I had a similar quote, but bought a new one at Sears outlet in Las Vegas for $503. My old one is still sitting in a repair shop.

We had a 2008 40TD for three years (36,000 miles) and traded it last year for a 2010 42AD. The TD was a great coach and we traveled all over the country in it and it never let us down. Had very few issues and those were likely individual problems, not common model issues. The only thing that you might watch is the air pressure gauge on the dash -- ours cracked, leaked air and we were told that Freightliner had a problem with a few bad gauges. This was quickly replaced under warranty and no further issues.

Enjoy the TD!
