I installed the same backup camera on my trailer as the MH has (Sony) and by changing the selector from channel A to channel B I can see out of the trailer camera, as you would expect :-)

However, when I put the MH in reverse the monitor defaults to the MH camera (A) regardless of the position of the channel dial. Camping World installed the cabling back to the tow hitch and have no idea why it does this.

Anyone know how to stop this happening so that I can reverse MH and trailer more safely?

Thanks in advance.

The MH is wired so that the A channel on the monitor is activated when the MH is put into reverse. That is how they are all wired. I would guess that the monitor is connected to the tail light circuit of the MH. If you get the wiring diagram from Winnibagos www for your MH you may be able to locate the lead and cut it or put a switch in line so that you could deactivate that circuit.
Thats all I got.

Your Sony monitor has a 4 pin connector on it. One of these wires goes to the backup lights circuit. When 12 volts is observed on this wire, the monitor shifts to the MH camera rather than channel B or C. If you disconnect that wire the monitor won't know that you've selected reverse and it'll run in normal mode.

That is how it is wired.
The A input is the prime source and according to Sony it was wired that way so it would automatically select the rear camera when in reverse so you will always see what is behind you when you are backing up.
I found this out when I called them about an issue I had. My screen quit showing the camera and I disconnected the camera input on the back of the monitor and reconnected it. It turns out that I had mistakenly put the camera input to the B source input. (It is virtually impossible to see the connections on the back of the monitor). Every time I shifted to reverse my camear would disappear.
When I called the folks at River Park and told them the symptoms, they knew right off that my camera inputs were switched.
I assume your wiring is the same as mine.

White – Ignition power (2.5 amp in line fuse)
Black – Ground
Green – To back up lights
