Splotching under skin-like front end protector

I just purchased second hand a 2008 Winnebago Voyage. It has a beautiful full body paint job marred by splotching only on the front of the vehicle under what appears to be a clear protective covering of some sort. The skin -like covering has edges that make it look like I could peal them up and remove the "skin" under which the splotching seems to be. The used RV Dealer from whom I purchased the vehicle said he could not get rid of the splotching and that "many" RVs experience this blemishing. Anybody had experience with this?

Glad you're aboard John. There a a number of threads here about clear coat and diamond shield peeling. Put those in the google search window in the tool bar abaove and leave it set to IRV2. Enjoy the reading, your adventures and be safe.

A lot of motor homes have a protective film that is made by 3M. Your RV Dealer lied to you as it can be removed. It is a time consuming process to remove the film. Many have removed the film from their coach including me. I will never install the 3M film on any coach I own!

According to how old the film is, probably installed in 2008, it can be very time consuming to remove it.

There are several threads on this product and removal.

I started to remove the film on my coach and during this tedious job I thought, why not call my insurance company. I did, they sent someone out and to my surprise, the insurance said they would pay to have the film removed and the front repainted.
Can't hurt to ask.

I would check with Winnebago Owner relations. I think they use a product by

DuraShield Premium Paint Protection Films

A call to them might provide insight.

I removed mine from my 07 Suncruiser. Had a little bit if paint lift off bottom of cap. Going in next week to be repainted by local body shop. They will repaint the base color of front. I used a product by AutoTek called Adhesive Remover to get the glue off. This stuff is a miracle product, compared to acetone. One bottle was enough and still have some left over. Good luck.
