Does anyone buy steer tires for the front tires on their coach and road tires for the rear. I have been pricing around and a truck service center near the interstate suggested steer tires for the 2 front tires at a savings from the price of all 6 the same. I like the ride and handling of the coach the way it is so I am getting confused.

I am making an assumption that for the Big Rig Trucks their drive tires carry a great amount of weight - much more than your coach - if it were me I'd stick with what came with the coach.

Just my opinion but I'd stick with an 'all position' tire for all six wheels.

Truck tires, which most of the larger motorhomes ride on, are rated in 3 grades.
Steer, Drive, and Trailer.
Steering tires are legal anywhere.
Drive tires are not legal on the steering axle.
Trailer tires are not legal on the steering or drive axles.
Steering tires are all-position tires, but ones rated for trucks.
The same tire labeled for motorhomes will be called an all-position tire.

Steering tires typically cost about 2x drive tires which cost 2-3x trailer tires.
Steering tires can't be recaps. (although they can be recapped and become drive or trailer tires).
It mostly has to do with quality and cost vs failure consequences.
For a big rig losing a trailer tire, they may not even know it until they stop.
Losing a drive tire, they'll notice it pretty soon, but unless heavily loaded it won't do much damage, although it'll ride pretty badly, and possibly damage the adjacent tire and/or rip off mud flaps or other trim.
Losing a steering tire - hang on - you may live through it.....
(and yes, I've been riding in the cab of a big-rig when it lost a drive tire. Figured it out about 5 miles down the road, stopped about another 10 miles down the road at a truckstop where they removed the rebar from the construction zone which is how we knew where it got punctured.)

Most truckers consider 'half-worn' steering tires to be no good and put them aside, buy new steering tires, and when they have enough sets of half-worn steering tires, use them to replace their next set of worn-out drive tires.

You can use trucking drive tires on your rear axle, but remember that they are more likely to fail in ways which could do damage to your wheel wells and/or basement compartments (not an issue for most trucks) - that damage could easily exceed the cost difference between the tires.

Thanks for the info, I will go for all 6 the same, I really feel what I have has been working the best although there has been much controversy about Michelins, the rig handles and rides beautiful from day one.
