We have the motorhome in our signature. I was just wondering if anybody has a problem with the size of the outside step? I wish it was just a little bit wider. It seems a little bit too small to suit me especially with some seniors in my family. Just an observation.

While I've not seen larger steps,how about a foldout lockable hand rail?

Kwikee 22, 32 and 40 series steps are 24 inches wide. The 42 series are 26 inches wide and the 34 series are 30 inches wide.

We also have a 2002 Journey, and although I don't mind the width of the step, I wish it had a two step retractable unit rather then the single step Winnebago installed. It seems that everytime we setup, I have to put out a portable step we carry.

I keep thinking of looking at newer models to see if they switched to a double step unit. Maybe I'll have to use Neils info and order a new one if I can figure the right part number.

We've got a two step retractable and though we probably don't have to use a portable step with it as many times as you may have to, we still have to use one occassionally. It all depends on how level our campsite is I suppose. One thing I did find out is that if you wash the steps often you also have to oil them or they will stop extending and retracting.

If you had 2 steps there is a possiblity that the steps would hit the ground or concrete patio when you dumped your air.

Now my W24 gasser only goes up, never down. I have 3 steps and sometimes when I drop my jacks I'm higher than balls on a giraffe.

This was one of the first things I changed on our COACH (DL39QD) after warning Winnebago of the liablitiy of someone falling off the single step. I bought the exact same size but in the double step. I had to e-longate two holes a little, but it bolted right up and the wires connected perfectly. It's not too low and we have no need for a ground step.

Also, there is a market for good used single steps, don't just discart it, it's worth at least $125.
