We have a powered cover that slides out over the step or entrance stair on our Journey. The cover serves as a floor for ones feet below the front right passenger seat.

Last week, leaving on a fishing trip with 5 of my friends, the cover did not slide out. Wanting to be a good host, I stopped and we began to mess around with the cover activation switch. Then the cover came out about 6 inches and stayed there. OK, I thought, I'll just pull it out the rest of the way. Just as I grabed the front of the cover it shot back in and almost caught my middle finger. I pulled free just in time, so only got the tip torn off. Did not lose the nail, but it could have been real bad. Must have needed some lubrication which my blood supplied. It has worked perfectly from that point on.

WARNING----- DO NOT GO NEAR THAT SLIDE WITH ANY BODY PARTS
YOU PLAN TO KEEP!!!!!!

Pine Tree

Haven't lost any body parts, but it did eat my wife's tennis shoe. The shoe was sitting on the step cover when we retracted it and it scarfed the shoe right down!

That may be one of the reasons why they warn you to disconnect power before servicing it...Just sayin.

Does this mean that you'll need to lubricate the cover with more blood when it starts to stick again?

Yikes! ...Sounds as if anyone missing a cat or small dog should perhaps investigate the bowels of this contrivance... just sayin'...
Glad you didn't suffer worse damage to yer digits there, Mr. Pine Tree. Thanks for the warning. Stay safe.
