Our puenumatic (sp) stepwell cover for some reason will not close. Position of emergency override switch has no effect.

We can not even close it by hand. There seems to be some spring that keeps it open and even if we pull it closed by hand, it springs back to open.

Any Suggestions as to where to look first? (The right answers will also give us the last place to look)

Thanks for the help.

Check out the operation of the solenoid valve located under the hood access cover right infront of the driver. Should be a blue box with two black solenoids located top and bottom of it. I'm guessing the valve isn't switching. The spring pressure you are feeling is the air pressure in the cylinder that moves the step cover.

When you push the switch inside listen for the solenoid to operate. You can also manually operate the valve by pressing on the white button on the side of it. Push the button one way, the step opens, the other it closes. Depending on whether or not the valve is working, you'll know whether your problem is mechanical, electrical or pneumatic. Let us know, and we can help you from there.

The answer was perfect!

Cleaned up the solenoid, pushed the buttons and it started working. Excersised the cover a few times and now all is well.

Thanks.
