I am posting this on the Winnebago forum but it would apply to any diesel pusher that has a rectangular (at the top) entry door.

I purchased a retractable screen for that window several years ago ... my copilot was disappointed that she had to look through a screen when she looked to the right ...

The screen got so that it did not want to retract ... so I called 3T's (where I purchased it ) and asked for help in repairing it ... John the tech gave me excellent instructions ... I followed them and it now works ...

Tools I used
small Phillips screwdriver
small square drive screwdriver
needle nose pliers
drill bit and electric drill
steel wool
Directions
  1. Remove the four phillips screws holding the screen in place
  2. Lift the screen from the door (and track)
  3. Place the screen in a stable vertical position with what was the left side as you faced the screen from inside the motorhome UP (I used my workmate) ... the shaft on this end has a notch in it
  4. Remove the two square drive screws from this end
  5. Lift off the top end (the spring will most likely spin ... so wear safety glasses and a glove)
  6. Remove the shaft from the middle ...
  7. Pull off snap washer from the shaft
  8. Remove the inner washer
  9. Pull the plastic "cap" beyond the end of the shaft ...you don't need to completely remove it ...
  10. Find a drill bit that is slightly larger than the hole in the plastic cap and make the hole a tad bit larger
  11. Push the cap back on so you compress the spring a little ... use some steel wool to remove any residue that is on the shaft ...
You are now ready to reassemble ... you will need to turn the end cap about 25 to 28 turns to get the tension on the spring to retract the shade ...

Thanks for sharing! I went through the same process with the same screen and the same tech about a year ago and no problem since.
