I thought I'd start a thread about those little things that could be easily fixed.

My suggestion is that they mark the hole for the screw for the bracket that holds down the tables or chairs. With carpet, the screw hole can be next to impossible to find. When we got our new motorhome, the bracket was in a cabinet. It holds down a chair in our coach. I spent a lot of time trying to find the hole, but couldn't. I called Winnebago and they suggested looking underneath, but the bottom of the slideout is finished, so there isn't anything to see. The person I talked to had no idea where the hole might be.

After searching for pictures of the interior, I found one that showed the chair with a possible bracket location so I had a clue where to look. Even then I couldn't feel it anywhere. The next attempt was to use a nail to poke around since the carpet has a solid backing. This finally worked. After poking the area where I thought the hole might be, the nail finally went through. The spot is now marked with some tape. A small flange that sits above the carpet would make it easy to find the hole.

If you have an older Winnebago, you may inadvertently run down your chassis battery whenever you stay at a campground for an extended period of time (or when your motorhome is being stored). The reason is that the motorhome's charger/converter only charges the house batteries. The chassis battery is only charged when your RV is being driven (via the alternator). The solution, now used in most late model Winnebagos, is a product called the Trik-L-Start. It basically eliminates this problem by linking your house batteries to your chassis battery. You can find them at:

Ultra TRIK-L-START Starting Battery Charger/Maintainer

Good thread idea. Hope it keeps going.
