Before I get into trouble with the DW, does anyone have experience with using an awning sun screen with the power awnings? We'll have a southern exposure on the curbside at our winter nest and there are times when its nice to relax outside.

The instructions on my A&E say to turn off the wind sensor.

We purchased the patty-o-shade from camping world it works well you can even roll it up inside the awning plus it comes with tie down cords & stakes comes in different colors too.

Late getting back to all that responded, "Thanks"! I'm still confused as I don't have an On/Off switch for the power awning -- wind speed settings and that's all that I'm aware of???

On our Journey the awning control box is located in the forward streetside compartment ... the control box is black plastic and about the size of a Kleenex box ... on the back side of the box there is a slide switch that turns off the auto retract function ... I assume your control is similiar ... I am sure there is an external slide switch someplace on that box.

Someone had to show me this switch ... and the plug for the headbolt heater for the engine ...

The human engineering consideration took the day off on these two things me thinks.

I disconnect the power to the awning while using the sunscreen. My controls are in the compartment by door , may be overkill but I take the power plug out.

When in doubt, read the instructions!! My awning turns-off by pressing two buttons on the remote control -- DW "suggested" that I get the manuals out.

When I first got ours, I rolled it up regularly with the awning for travel. But then I noticed the retraction was getting sluggish, so I remove it when we moved.

I think rolling it up increases pressure that the electric motor needs to overcome because it changes the gear ratio, fabric has to go around a larger diameter roll, which I think is why the awning manufacturers do not recommend it.

We also tried rolling the sunscreen up with the awning and, although it worked, noticed the motor had to much load. Better to remove when retracting the awning.
