dstinch,
Our friends had the same problem and they used velcro to add extensions to the bottom only when needed. They used the same material as the side shades that you can still see through...

Hope that helps,
Dave

Hi Don,

I think all you can do is add extensions as we did. I was just as upset with the original shades as you probably are, they just don’t come down far enough to be useful at sunrise or sunset. These extensions are out of the way when fully up and come down below the horizon even for short drivers. The dimensions are 7” x 27 ½” and are attached under the lever arm bolt. I don’t remember for sure but I think the material was from Staples and is used as a desk writing surface cover. Good sharp scissors were used to cut them out. Good luck.

You might also take a look at this thread which discusses how to adjust to up and down 'stop' positions for these shades: Power sun visor - 2005 Journey

I believe the shades were a different brand on my '03 Ultimate, but think they have a similar setup. There may be "stop limit" switches that you can adjust, normally on one end of the roller. Mine were made by AutoMotion. There were two very small switches on one end of the roller, one for the upper stop and one for the lower stop. First I had to figure out which was which. Pushing the switch "opened" it, then you could run the blind to it's extreme physical limits. All you had to do was stop the blind where you want it to stop every time, the push the switch again. That set the stop limit.

The new MCD shades I put in the cockpit area have a similar system to set upper and lower stop limits. I would be surprised if yours (probably Carefree or Dometic?) don't have a similar feature.

Good luck!!
