I have a 30amp service. Any recommendations for a good surge protector? I want a plug & play model as I'm no electrician. Not knowing much about them (other than I feel I should have one) I'm looking for guidance

We picked up the 50 amp model at the Perry Rally, Camping World booth. Great price also at the rally. It is easy to use, and gives you peace of mind. There is a lock available for the portable ones, if you choose.

Bought one from Progressive Industries. I am also electrically challenged but decided to buy one that has to be hard wired. After the initial trepidation, going through the two-page manual wasn't too bad. It took all of 30 minutes to plan and another 30 to install. The scariest thing was cutting off the cord. So far, so good.

Either way, deciding to buy one to protect your components inside your MH is a good idea.

You might consider buying a 50 Amp Surge Guard instead of a 30 Amp. The 50 Amp will work with 50, 30, 20, or 15 Amps (with adapters). That way when you buy a another rig with 50 Amp service, you can still use your 50 Amp Surge Guard.

Wise decision to protect your elec system! My Surge Guard has saved my bacon many times.

I also have the Progressive Industries unit. I like it compared to the Surge Guard unit, but both serve the purpose of protecting the RV. I've actually been writing a review on the unit that I need to finsh and get posted.

I have a hardwired 30 amp surge guard. Thought about getting the portable one, but CW had the hardwired one for sale plus I did not need to buy a lock for it. Installed it myself. Hardest part was deciding where in the elec compartment to put it. Figure I can remove it and ebay it when I trade my unit in...
