Surge protector

After a lot of discussion on surge protectors. I went on Ebay. And they are available In 50 amp. Motorhome/RV plug in Style For only $100.00 And go up to $350.00 So I see no need for posters to get upset about using or not using Them.. If you think you want one get it. If you don't want one Don't get one.. some posters get much to personal.. Life is good..

At the $100 level what you were looking at were simple surge suppressors. Those are of some help but are not what most serious RVers are interested in. At the higher end of the price band you get devices that will prevent power from flowing to an RV in the event of situations such as when voltage rises or falls outside of certain voltage ranges.

My intent Of this post is/was to inform RV/motorhome Owners That with a bit of research They can find the Protector that best suits there needs. With that being said. It is Most important to remember. You can not buy an entry Leval unit and expect it to perform as well as a top of the line unit; ( or you may not feel the need for one, No need to argue/Opions are only worth what you pay for them) It generaly works like this.. " You get what you pay for"" Life is good . Agree, and be friends. Thanks.

Portable Surge Guard Protector 120-240V 50 Amp - $303.95

We went with a 50 amp surge guard as above.

That is only half the equasion. Surges do occasionally strike but more persistant is low voltage so I put in both a low voltage booster and the Surge Protector.

A few hundred in up front costs has saved me thousands over the years not to mention made my coach more comfortable as the AC and other system always run at peak efficiency when they are running on the correct voltage of course provided your filters and such are kept clean.

My coach is 30 amp so I used these and have not had an equipment failure since 2006:

30 amp Surge Guard built in model:
http://www.adventurerv.net/permanent-surge-guard-120v-amp-p-2761.html

30 amp voltage booster:
http://www.adventurerv.net/hughes-autoformers-voltage-booster-amp-p-2779.html

If you have a 50 amp coach then these would be the minimum.

50 amp Surge Guard built in model:
Permanent Surge Guard 120-240V 50 Amp - $230.65

50 amp voltage booster:
Hughes Autoformers Voltage Booster 50 Amp - $556.97
