Well here I am again, almost a year later, trying to solve an ongoing surround sound issue. However, I think that I am am getting closer, to resolving this problem. First, a little backgound: I removed the Sony 27 inch tv (analog) from the front of my 2004 Winnebago Journey. My replacement is a 32" Samsung LCD tv. The install went very well, and I am delighted with the picture and the new lcd tv in general. I also removed my old vcr/dvd player, and replaced it recently with a Samsung Blu Ray dvd player. Wow!! What a difference in the picture, it is very impressive. The surround sound issue has been present since I made the intitial tv change and I don't think it has anything to do with the new blu-ray player.

Now to the sound surround issue. I get sound from the tv fine. Sound is also fine when playing dvd discs, except for the fact that the sound surround does not function. I've tried a whole range of connections...rca connections, hdmi, optical audio cable, etc. The sound surround still was not operable. There is a (speaker source select) in the compartment to the right of the tv above the dvd player that can be set to (radio or tv). That seems to be working properly, but has no effect on the sound surround. In my various attempts to resolve this problem, I found that I could get the surround sound to work when I turned on the radio, but not when using the tv.

Recently, I did stumble on a way to get the tv audio to come through the surround sound by moving the toggle switch LOCATED ON THE DASH of the motorhome from (main) to (aux). The surround sound comes on when I move the switch from (main) to the (aux). However, it is loud, and the volume control on the tv has no effect, nor does the radio volume control (if I turn on the radio).

This said, I have two questions:

How can I control the volume coming from the tv when I switch from MAIN to AUX on the dash controls? The toggle switch that I am talking about is in the bank of five next to the key/ignition for the motorhome, and is the top most switch.

Secondly, if I switch to AUX will this drain the house batteries or engine battery?

Usually connected to DIRECV via an hd receiver. Frequently, connected also to campground cable when available.

Thanks for any advice as to how I can resolve this issue.

Aux is the house batteries. All you are doing is powering the amplifier.

Check your TV sound options to see if you can change the output. It sounds like you currently have a "fixed" output. You need to change it to "variable" or whatever Samsung calls it.

hi..do a search in the winnebago forum for" surround sound volume control"..you will see a lot of discussion on this..to summarize, you need a volume control between the tv and the amp ...for a wider discusion reduce your search to "surround sound...jim..
