Hi folks,
I need to pick the brains of members who've owned an older Winne with a tag axle.
My 97 is equipped with a Tekonsha Voyager brake controller and a tag axle. The tag axle brakes are electric. I'm wondering if the Voyager controller is what activates the tag axle brakes. Anyone have any idea???
Placement of the Voyager is high, up under the dash, so it's not user friendly. Access is via removing the left dash speaker. This leads me to believe it is not for a pull behind trailer.
Curious minds want to know.

Thanks

Don't know if this helps or not but in the Winnebago wiring diagrams for your MH, it shows the tag axle brake controller in the wiring diagrams. In the diagrams, the wires going to the brake controller for the tag axle are colored black, red, white, and blue (these are just leads from the controller. Your wiring diagram is available up on the Winnebago site if you want to download it.

Thanks Dave. I downloaded the schematic and see exactly what you mean. I also emailed Winne and they sent me info on how to properly set the gain feature on the brake controller for tag axle brake operation.
Mystery solved.

Peter;

My previous motor home was a 97 Adventure 37RW. I had the Tekonsha Voyager brake controller which was just for the tag axle. Mine worked very well and I was happy with it. The sensitivity is set at the factory. I would caution about setting up the sensitivity as it will over brake on the tag shortening the life of the brake pads.

If my memory serves me I believe the tag brakes need a manual adjustment. Before changing the sensitivity on the Voyager I would advise checking out the tag axle brake system first.
