Any suggestions for mail order chrome tailpipe extensions. I need one for a 330 hp cat, or would I simply be better off going to a local truck center. I haven't tried to remove mine yet, can I expect problems in removing?

My existing chrome extension on a 1 year old Destination was showing some rust around the welds. I used 0000 steel wool and cleaned it up. Then I used some 2100 degree F black paint to match the sides. So far so good.
Just an alternative.

I had to replace mine last year...it is a 5" diameter extension. I looked on the web but actually got what I needed at the local Freightliner Truck Center parts department for a fair price.
It took a bit of grunting and tugging to get the old one off. I also used a nice stainless 4" wide exhaust clamp to attache the new extension.

As hard as it is to get a tail pipe and muffler apart without a good torch, I figured that chrome end on the tail pipe would take a lot more than grunting to get it off. Keep looking at mine and wonder just how firm it is rusted on.

When we had our pusher, I got an extension off E-bay, brand new for a third the cost.
Just my 2 cents.

I sprayed the joint liberally with P-Blaster, banged it with a hammer, said a few words that I can't repeat here, and jerked the extension back and forth until it came off. I do remember wanting to give up a few times and just take a sawzall to the tailpipe. That was going to be my choice if I could not get the extension off.

Mine rusted thru. I replaced it with a stainless steel exhaust tip. Got it here.
