I have a "tipout" window 33.3" x 30.2" in the bedroom of our 2000 Winnebago 35B. Only the bottom 10 inches "tipout" and that happens when a small plastic thumbwheel about midway across the window is turned. The thumbwheel is attached to an operator that has a square rod running through it. The rod runs to each side of the window and is what actually makes the window tilt up.
The previous owner installed a small c-clamp to hold the two halves of the operator together. The operator appears to have been riveted on initial manufacture and for some reason the rivets broke or pulled out. The window is an Atwood/Excel thermopane unit but I found no repair parts on their website.
I found the online Winnebago listing for the entire window unit but hope that there is a less labor intensive/expensive way to address the issue than replacing the entire window unit. Also, the weatherstripping spline along the top of the tilt-out section is falling out.
So my questions are:
1. Can I find a replacement operator and weatherstrip in lieu of a whole window unit? And if so, where?
2. Can the operator be replaced short of replacing the entire window? And if so, does anybody have guidance?
As to why not leave the c-clamp there - that is a good question. But my DW thinks it should be "fixed". I thought I'd ask about it and decide if it might be easier to fix the window - or get a new DW :-)
