Tire Pressure Monitor

I've been putting off buying a pressure monitor. Now that the cat is out of the bag I have ordered one.

On returning from a trip the right front tire of the toad went flat.
I didn't know it and neither did the diesel. Well I have read of the consequences and we were very lucky.

We were close to a food/gas pump place and we were able to pull off to the side of their very large parking area with a shreded tire and damage to the right front fender of the toad. Called Coach Net they had a flat bed there within a hour and took the toad 9 Miles to Orange,Va Tire. Thankfully the rim was not damaged, a [COLOR=#0072bc !important][COLOR=#0072bc !important]new [COLOR=#0072bc !important]tire[/COLOR][/COLOR][/COLOR] and alignment and we were on our way after about a 3 hour delay. Kudos to Coach Net and Orange Tire they did a fine job.
Now we are in the process of getting estimates on repair to the car. The damage is not extensive, yet it will decrease the checking account.

At least now with the pressure monitor I should be able to know when a tire is low on air..If you don't use a monitor, then check your [COLOR=#0072bc !important][COLOR=#0072bc !important]tires [COLOR=#0072bc !important]pressure[/COLOR][/COLOR][/COLOR] often and do a visual inspection every time you hook up and are ready to go. I have an '05 39K also. It has the Accuride aluminum wheels.

Since I am planning to get a monitoring system, it would find it helpful to know which TPMS you ordered and how you intend to install the sensors?

Anyone else have recommendations for installing sensors on inward facing stems of the outer dual wheels?

I chose Pressure Pro, because a friend of mine used to sell them.
I have valve stem extensions so I hope this won't be a problem.

The outter wheel valve stem can be lossened and moved outwards. Careful not to attempt to bend the valve stem, it is cripsy and will crack and not bend.

You can lossen the steel valve stem on the outter dually enough to turn it outwards and snug it back up, but not too much snug .

You will not lose air in the process. I did this a year ago.. No problems... The sensor fits right on easily and future air filling is a snap.

I purchased a Hopkins, or NVision, TPMS from Camping World for my RV and it nerver has worked well. I called Hopkins when I couldn't program my unit and they sent me another unit. I was able to program it but now I get a lot of false alarms. The last time I talked to Hopkins they said that maybe my programming was corrupted and that I needed to reboot and reprogram. It's on my list of things to do.

I wouldn't purchase another Hopkins product.

I have the Tire-SafeGuard system and I am very happy with it. Customer service has been fantastic. I bought it because it has flow thru sensors for the MH. It is sold by Genco Distributors.

Thanks Jeff. That was a good, informative thread, even if focused on a single system.

My tire dealer suggested what I believe Batman777 mentioned, and that is rotating the inward facing stem outward. That is a pretty long stem. Has anyone else tried this? Seems that the stem would be more exposed to damage.

I have had good luck with my Tire Safeguard system, Tire-SafeGuard . There are several postings about this system on the forum, also. I really like this system because I do not have to remove my sensors to air up the tire.

We've been using Doran 360 for two years and are very happy with it. Had one sensor go out last month and they sent me another.... for $35.

Batman... great idea on rotating that beast of an extender on the outer duals. I didn't realize it could be loosened without loosing air. I'm going to give it a try once the Minnesota weather turns nice again..... I just hope that's not next May!

I just finished re-booting and reprogramming my Hopkins TPMS. I've also changed it's position in the MH to see it that will help keep it from giving false warning signals. Our next trip is in a few weeks. Hopefully it will work ok. I'm getting faster at programming the unot as I've had lots of practice.

I have used the Pressure Pro for three years and it has worked flawlessly. I really like knowing the tire pressures on the coach and toad while we are underway.

I have been looking at TPMS systems and decided on the pressure pro system because it has been around a long time and it intagrates with VMSpc, which is the preimer engine monitoring system software. I figure that if VMSpc chose the Pressure Pro system to align with it says alot. I do not have VMSpc yet but plan to in the next year or to.
