My 2007 Tahoe doesn't register mileage when being towed 4 down with the transfer case in neutral.
I suspect the Silverado will be the same.

jdsr,
7000 may be the GVWR... my 4X4 GMC is 4700 per the brochure and that seems more realistic.

I believe that when I remove the fuses in order to tow, I don't rack up mileage. If I leave the fuses in, I rack up mileage. H ven't tried it yet though. I always remove the fuses!

I tow a 2001 Jimmy
I have towed it for three days with two fuses pulled ... with my brake buddy ... no miles and battery was still UP ...
I towed it for ONE day with fuses in ... the battery was DEAD at the end of the day ...
There must be a significant draw when the switch is on and those two fuses are in ...

2006 Silverado:: No need to pull fuses as key is off and removed. Look at the owners manual.

No need to pull a fuse from the Colorado. We had a 2004 and as long as the transfer case is in Neutral it doesn't record any mileage.

2004 and later GM trucks no longer lock the steering wheel when the key is removed.

Nice thing is being able to take out the key.
Also, some of the instructions are not correct. My Tahoe manual has two sets for putting the transfer case in Neutral. One right and one wrong. My Colorado only had one set - the wrong one.
You put the TRANSMISSION in Neutral when you turn the TRANSFER CASE to Neutral. Putting is PARK like they say in one section of the Tahoe and in the Colorado doesn't allow the TC to go into N.
