Experienced a transmission cooler leak. Leak occured at upper passenger side of cooler tubing. Tubing was corroded & failed; several areas are corroded. The leak presented itself in stop & go traffic, at first I thought I was having a brake issue. Pedal got soft, braking was poor, ABS light on. 1st chance I had I checked master cyl. & it took 5/6 ounces, however the passenger W/W area was very wet with transmission fluid. Further investigation revealed the coooler leak (could see the stream of fluid). Not positive of this but I suspect the fluid on the pad/rotor caused caliper slipping/abs light/overheat & brake fluid boil out. After servicing master cylinder & allowing caliper to cool, braking returned to normal, we made it to a Flying J for the night. Next morning called our service & they recommended "Western Branch Diesel Inc." in Ashland, VA.,who is an Allison shop. Nursed the coach there, this was the holiday week between Xmas & New Year the shop had reduced staff, but found a way to get our new cooler shipped overnight & removed/replaced it & had us on our way by three pm the next day. "Kudos" to "Western Branch Diesel" & their friendly & talented staff. Continued successfully to (Florida) our destination "ABS" light still on, braking is normal, transmission operating normally.
