Trip to Forest City
Thought I would post a note on my experiences going to Forest City for some repairs.
I had a fairly short list of items I wanted addressed, the main one being replacing the windshield. I took two big rocks to it recently and had two big spiderwebs in the middle. I wanted to get that replaced at the factory and didn't want to wait for an appointment so I drove over on a Thursday night from Chicago and overnighted at a WalMart in Mason City. I arrived Friday morning at 7 and the lot was already full. The receptionist was very nice and explained the procedure and said I would get a call probably the next day, Monday.
I went to Three Fingers Campground where I had reservation, dropped the jacks, put out my slides, disconnected the toad and went into town for something to eat.
No sooner had I gotten my food and I got a call from them telling me to be there at 11:40. Went back to the campground, brought in slides, stowed jacks, reconnected toad and went to town. Met with my service coordinator and they got started on my list. They also added two recalls from Freightliner to my list. I waited in the waiting area and they brought it back around at 3:00. He had fixed the AC issue and said to call back Monday morning at 9. By then they would have the weeks schedule figured out and would know where he could fit me in for the rest of the work.
I discovered that the plane crash site where Buddy Holly died was close by along with the Surf Ballroom where he played that night. I went there on Saturday and I recommend stopping by. It is very unique and resembles the way it did that night. they have not remodeled or changed much at all.
Anyway, Monday I called and they said to be there Tuesday at 7:00am. I get there and they completed everything else that day except the windshield. They said come back Wednesday at 7 and we will do the windshield.
The windshield was completed ataround 2:00pm wednesday and I was back on the road for home.
I was very pleased with the service and prompt attention since I rolled in without an appointment.
Next time I will make sure I have time to take in the factory tour.

Glad to hear it went well for you, they are good folks there. They have taken really good care of me also. It feels good don't it? Like, they really appreciate your purchase of the brand. That means a lot to me.
My home town is Clear Lake. I've performed at the Surf many times in my career in music. The Surf was sold in the mid nineties to a construction firm in town. They completely renovated the building, bringing it back to it's original condition. Including replication of the carpet which came from over seas, to a "t". They found original wall paper behind facades inside, and reproduced the paintings on the walls from photographs. The original pay phone used by Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and the Big Bopper still hangs on the wall as it did in 1959.
I'm thankful it was saved and preserved, and it's now on the National Historic Register.
Even a picture of yours truly hangs among many others who've performed there through the many decades.
Anyway, glad your repairs were completed and it was a good experience.
Best regards.

We, too, had a great experience at the factory as a walk-in. Unlike you, we just boon docked it beside the factory in one of the free sites with electricity. We arrived Sunday night, was in line first thing 7am Monday morning, got scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, but actually didn't get in to get repaired until first thing on Thursday. They had us out and back on the road by 1pm. We did take the factory tour which was very good.

Wish I could say the same but I can't. Took it in for several items the main one was that the bedroom slide would occasionally slip in (retract a bit) when it was extended. They replace TWO hydraulic $$ solenoids telling me that the were required to by HWH (manufacturer of the system). Then handed me a sheet from HWH that said they only needed to replace ONE solenoid for my issue unless it was in warranty. Which it wasn't since my rig is a '02.
And of course that didn't fix the issue. In fact they made it worse. Now, every time I drive, the bedroom slide creeps OUT. The problem reversed and in a worse way IMO. So now it extends 2"-4" whenever I drive. When I called, they wanted me to bring it in, which wasn't convenient for me but they made sure to point out that they only give a 60 day warranty on their repairs. Even when they screw them up.
Their other screw up cost me 0.7 hours at $125/hr for their tech to tell me that the dash heat was within specs and there was nothing to fix. NOT TRUE. When the heat is suppose to be circulating around my feet making me comfortable during cold weather while I drive, in reality, it's blowing up onto the window through the defrost vents. 90% of the hot air goes on the windows, not under the dash like it's suppose to. If I put it on Vent though, then I get plenty of hot air on my chest, but my feet are cold. So something is wrong, but according to the Forest City techs, it's normal.
I will not be returning.

If you ever have issues with HWH slides or levelers, you best bet is to make an appointment at HWH in Moscow, Ia for superior service at a very reasonable rate. Moscow is on I-80 about halfway between Iowa City and Davenport and HWH is just off the highway. Good luck,
